What happens when a community hospital is sold and a new foundation is created to appropriately manage the proceeds? This was the dilemma facing the McKenna Legacy Foundation after the McKenna Hospital was purchased by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa. Working closely with the CEO, we suggested a shift from well to not simply wellness, but a far more comprehensive notion of well-being for the New Braunfels community. An Operating Plan was further developed to bring the vision to reality. The campus was given a facelift to bring new energy, incorporating the gym and event center as inspirational community resources and the Children’s Museum as an educational center. Thoughtful advertising launched the new community asset. The city has something today that is the envy of all others: a strong foundation.
